Archery Elk 2024 2nd Season - Sycamore IL
My experience at Rafter Y Ranch was an exceptional one that I will always cherish. It met all the expectations that I was hoping for in a guide service. - The property was diverse and provided great habitat for Elk, Deer, and Bear. - The accommodations were comfortable, clean and convenient. With hot showers. - The food was plentiful and tasted like a gourmet restaurant. Including snacks and refreshments. - The guides where knowledgeable and worked hard to put you on animals. But mostly it was the Owners, McKenzie and Ashley along with their young family who where genuine people, and they really made you feel comfortable. I had a great time with my Guide Tyler who brought in a nice Bull Elk the first morning. That humongous animal coming in at 16 yards will always be engrained in my memory. Hopefully it won't be the last. I was blessed to have spent some time at Rafter Y Ranch and Outfitters.
Fall 2024 - Vermont
My elk hunt at Rafter Y Ranch was an unforgettable adventure. The land itself is breathtaking, with its wide-open spaces and rugged beauty providing the perfect backdrop for the hunt. Hogan, my guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and gave me the full experience, making the entire adventure both challenging and exciting. His expertise in calling and knowing exactly where to be made all the difference, allowing me to fully embrace the thrill of the hunt. Kenzie is a wealth of knowledge and a down-to-earth guy who made this trip even more memorable. His deep understanding of his land and passion for what he does shone through in every conversation. Kenzie and Ashley, who welcomed me with open arms, made me feel like part of their family. Ashley’s cooking was exceptional – she prepared three delicious meals a day, each one a highlight that perfectly complemented the long, exhilarating days in the field. The combination of expert guidance, fantastic food, and the warmth of a great family made this experience truly special. I can’t thank Hogan enough for giving me the full experience and look forward to returning to Rafter Y Ranch for more incredible adventures.
Fall 2022 - Dekalb, IL
I’ve been to Rafter Y Ranch in 2020 and 2022 and tagged out both times with 2 bull Elk. I had Kenzie and Matt as guides and they where both great experiences. Ashley’s cooking will make you not want to leave. They make you feel right at home at rafter Y. The new lodge where meals are served is awesome! The cabins are comfy the showers have hot water. When you harvest your animal all the guides come to help. The property is beautiful! I definitely will be going back. Love this place
Fall 2022 - Centennial Colorado
Over the years I have participated in many guided hunts on both public and private property in Colorado but nothing compares to the experience my sons and I had at Rafter Y Ranch. McKenzie and Ashley are fantastic hosts and made us feel like part of the family. The guides were as good as any we have ever hunted with and had us in elk every day. I cant think of a single thing that would have made this experience at Rafter Y any better than it was. We are already making plans to return next year.

We were their first clients years ago, we go back every year. I have some health issues and Kenzie plans my hunt to accommodate my issues. I’ve had opportunities to harvest an elk each trip. I’ve got to see bear, elk, mule deer, wild mustangs and a mountain lion while hunting.The meals, snacks, desserts are all homemade and delicious. The showers have great water pressure and are hot. The beds are comfortable. The scenery and hunting are phenomenal. I can’t wait to see my Rafter Y family in 2022 and have a meal in the new lodge. I give Rafter Y Ranch a rating of all the stars you can see on a clear night at the hunting lodge.
Fall 2021 - North Carolina
Just wanted to tell you and Kenzie thanks for the great time out at your ranch. I've hunted elk in several states from do-it-yourself conditions to hunting with outfitters and this was by far the best elk hunting experience I've had. While I was ecstatic to get a nice bull, the entire experience here was great -- including the living arrangements, the food, the property itself, and the time in the mountains. It is obvious you and Kenzie are heavily invested in the ranch and ensuring hunters have a quality experience here. I hope the rest of the season goes well for you guys. By the way we ended up with just under 300 pounds of meat off that elk. We won't be going hungry anytime soon! Thanks again -- Dad and I really enjoyed our time in CO!
